iOS 6 Cool Features: Lock the Ringer & Alerts Volume

The context sensitive volume buttons on the side of your iPhone (and iPad) control the volume for songs, movies, alerts, etc. iOS 6 allows you to lock the volume setting for the ringer and alert sounds so they won’t change if you accidentally hit the volume buttons.

To lock the ringer and alert volumes: Go to Settings > Sounds, and turn off “Change with Buttons”. This will keep your ringer and alert volumes set to a constant level.

You can test the volume by tapping on the round slider adjustment. You can also adjust the volume by sliding the the button to the left or right.

P.S. Yes, I’ve been absent for a long time. I thought with the introduction of iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, it was time again to share some cool tips, features and tricks.
